Caine’s feat allows you to make Spellstorm pistol attacks against all models in his control range, ignoring intervening models. How does this interact with the 12" range of the pistol if his control is 14" due to the Squire? Do you shoot and auto miss due to lack of range?

Correct. Caine would need Snipe as well for the extra range.
